After five months, the supply has finally caught up with the demand, and the long wait for iPads seems to be over. Has Apple stepped up production enough to keep up with the coming wave of competition?

Until today, if you ordered an iPad from the Apple Store, you could expect to wait several days for your package to ship. The popularity of the device seemed to have caught Apple by surprise, and they’ve been stepping up production to fill orders and keep stores stocked.
Whatever they’ve done has worked, because this morning, the shipping time for iPads at the Apple Store went down to 24 hours. Now each model ships within a day after it was ordered for the first time since the iPad was introduced in April. Unverified rumors have Apple shipping 7.5 million iPads in its second quarter, twice what they delivered in the spring.
This boost in production has happened just in time for Apple to face the competition coming from an array of Andriod-based tablets set to flood the market this fall.
